The Ministry of Information has disclosed facts and figures regarding the reality of the New Sudan following the secession of South Sudan. This announcement took place during a joint press conference held by the Minister of Information and Official Government Spokesperson, Dr. Kamal Obeid, and the Minister of State at the Ministry of Information, Dr. Sanaa Hamad Al-Awad, at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum.
The presentation on the post-secession facts and figures revealed that Sudan’s total area has decreased to 1,882,000 km². Additionally, the number of neighboring countries has been reduced from nine to seven; Sudan no longer shares borders with Uganda, Kenya, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to the new statistics, the population now stands at 33,419,625, while the amount of arable land has maintained its previous figure of 200 million acres.
During the event, a booklet was distributed containing comprehensive details of these statistics, titled: “Sudan: Land of Opportunities – Facts and Figures.”
